  The Preschool classroom incorporates activities that help three and four year old children develop coordination, language, color and number concepts, and social skills.Within the classroom, children are active participants in their own learning. Theme based activities inform preschoolers about general subjects, while reinforcing basic skills. We believe in "hands on" education and incorporate field trips and developmentally appropriate materials into the curriculum, allowing children to examine a subject first hand. The activities are planned according to the interests and developmental level of the children. Preschool utilizes the outdoor environment, extending the learning beyond the classroom walls. We believe in fostering self esteem, problem solving and valuing the process of learning. The classroom will have displays of the learning process taking place. The preschool class is made up of 14-24 children, ages 2 yrs 9 months to 4 ½ years, and 3-4 teachers. Teachers encourage the preschoolers to make discoveries, solve problems, and to think independently. The class is broken into two smaller groups for activities, snack and outside time allowing the children more one on one time and small group work. Each child has a journal where teachers write daily happenings to keep parents in tune with their child's day. Twice a year, a written evaluation is shared with the families. This evaluation is a summary of the observations and interactions over a four month period. 
Please understand that each day is flexible and changes with activity, weather, moods, etc. Each morning and afternoon the children are divided into two smaller groups with 1-2 teachers in each group. This allows for small group activities inside and out and more one on one time with the teachers.
